Shri Balasaheb Khandale cultivates sugarcane at his farm. A distinguished resident of this village is Shri B. Shankaranand, ex-central cabinet minister. Shri Khandale's farm is along the National Highway No. 4. The region suffers from a shortage of water and the crops are generally miserable since the canal water supply on an average, is once in two months. However, after starting cultivation as per my technique, the sugarcane crop remained green even with the meager water supply. Since the farm adjoins the highway the farmers and travelers passing along are fascinated by the green patch in an otherwise parched landscape.

Sometimes back a group of cultivators from Baramati came to meet me. I suggested that on the way back they may visit Shri Balasaheb's farm. Shri Balasaheb told them that his farm had plenty of earthworms after the Angara and Amrutpani treatment. But at the farm the visitors were unable to locate any earthworms even after extensive search. They were quite disappointed and mentioned the incident during their next visit. I took them to Balasaheb's farm again and they were surprised to see earthworms all over the field.
Without offering any scientific explanation, I would attribute these phenomenon to the play of cosmic energy.

On the way to salinity. Water saline. |
Shri Patil is a young, enterprising cultivator from Karnataka. He was in great difficulty due to a number of problems at the farm, compounded by a totally unreliable power supply. The production was decreasing year by year as the soil was gradually turning saline and the irrigation water was briny. He firmly believed the proclamations of the pseudoscientists that excess water results in an increase in the salinity of the land. In 1993, we started trials using Deshpande technique. My advise was to use as much water as he desired despite its salinity. He followed my advise and the resultant sugarcane yield was the highest in the village.

This case demonstrates the effectiveness of my earlier assertion that a strict discipline has to be followed in the preparation and use of Amrutpani. Shri Kalyanrao is an educated and progressive cultivator. He fully trusted my instructions about preparation of Amrutpani but all the same tried two sets of experiments. While preparing Amrutpani he used equal weights of honey and ghee ( ½ kilo each in 200 litres of water instead of the formula quantities of ½ and ¼ kilo respectively). This concoction was used for only 10 rows of the sugarcane plantation while rest of the crop was treated with normal Amrutpani. The response from the seedlings was quick and disturbing. The sugarcane in the ten rows under trial started yellowing. He then fed these with the normal Amrutpani and the plants turned green again.
He is one of the numerous cultivators who learned about my technique of agriculture through the Baliraja magazine. I was away visiting the client farmers on a few occasions when he tried to meet me. He has extensive banana orchards and the dreaded bunchy top disease was rapidly spreading through the gardens. After starting the use of the Deshpande technique the spread of the disease was arrested and after two years it was completely eradicated from his plantations. One can compare this experience with the teachings of the agricultural experts who declare the bunchy top as the cancer of banana trees with no cure and advise immediate destruction of the gardens showing signs of the disease.
The healthy banana orchards of this farmer are a living testimonial to the success of Deshpande technique.

Shri Katti is known for his depth of knowledge and result oriented approach to farming. He challenged me to demonstrate the success of my method on a one acre plot at his sugarcane farm. The crop was yellow with mosaic mottled leaf disease. I accepted the challenge and started the treatment using remedies prepared from the material available at his farm. The sugarcane turned green and disease free in three months. He paid my fee without asking and congratulated me for passing the test with flying colours.

Good quality, water very saline. |
He is my first client farmer. He has been using the Deshpande technique for over 10 years with great success. His main problem has been the water. He produces jaggery from the sugarcane grown at his farm. However, the jaggery used to taste salty since the waste water from the village runs into his field. After starting the cultivation as per the Rishi-Krishi technique, the jaggery produced in the very first year was sweet. His problem is now fully resolved. He also has the distinction of winning the first or second prizes at the annual shows organized by the Regional Sugarcane Research Centre.

During my discussion with Shri Ranmale, I suggested using a large quantity of soil from under the trees around the farm as Angara. Surprisingly, the sugarcane yield was 100 tonnes per acre in the first year. He has a banana orchard which is also cultivated by Deshpande method. The quality is so good that the entire production is sold at the farm gate.

Shri Patil had known about my work through the news items in the newspapers and the Baliraja magazine. Hence he was interested in trying out the technique at his farm. They are a joint family and his elder brother, Shankarrao, who manages the farms was not in favour of the trial as he firmly believed that no worthwhile crop can be grown without use of chemicals. For our trials, he offered a parcel of fallow land on a hilly tract. The soil was red with gritty structure. To his surprise the field produced a lush green sugarcane crop without use of chemical fertilizers.
He is now an enthusiastic supporter of Rishi-Krishi and the farmers from neighbouring villages visit the hill top farm to admire the sugarcane being cultivated without chemicals.
